Thanks to the Back to School sale on TpT, I was able to stock up on a bunch of activities for the first week of school. I made sure to hang a lot of it in the hall outside my room for Open House that took place yesterday. I got so many compliments on it!
Next week, I'm going to jump right into all the curriculum and am kind of excited to get to a more normal schedule. I'm also really excited about this product from Christina Bainbridge. These Character Trait Cards are going to go along perfectly with the first story in our reading series and I think I'm going to make parts of it one of our reading centers for the week. I'm going to try to explain each component of the pack, because there are so many resources!
I'm definitely using this sheet next week. It has a place for the students to draw a picture of a character in any text, write four character traits, and also has a little space to explain why those traits describe the character using evidence from the text.
Christina also includes 16 character trait cards. There is a brief passage and the students are to think of a trait that matches the character.
This is also an engaging activity that will make the students really think. Christina included 10 of these "kids" cards. The students will need to match the child and his/her character traits with that child would most likely do. The can use the note taking sheet on the right to record who and why that child would like that activity.
I really do recommend this pack. It's very comprehensive and has the students working with character traits in various ways to help reinforce the skill. I kind of want to just do it all this week, but knowing that I have limited time, I'll most likely split it up a bit and do a little the following week as well. I'm so super excited about this. Thanks, Christina!
